Every sitcom seems to have that one character in sunglasses who's supposedly awesome. But, if you think about it, most of them are actually pretty lame. 1. Captain Kirk from "Star Trek" What we thought was cool about Captain Kirk was his swagger. But, perhaps that swagger isn't exactly justified when you consider what a terrible captain the guy really was. In the three seasons of the original Star Trek, 59 of Kirk's crew members died. Suddenly, his cocky attitude wasn't so much "cool" as it was delusional. 2. Greg from "The Brady Bunch" You can chant, "groovy" all you want, Greg, but it won't make us forget about that super lame singing group you fronted with your five brothers and sisters. Come to think of it, I never saw you with any kids your own age. You were just hanging out with your younger siblings all the time. Confirmed: Greg Brady was totally lame. 3. Uncle Jesse from "Full House" Let's just ignore this dude's ridiculous mullet for a second, and focus on the fact that high school dropout Uncle Jesse lives with his wife and kids in the attic of his brother-in-law's house. I thought he was moving into Danny's home to help him raise those three girls after their mother died, not to mooch free rent. Also, the guy once crashed his motorcycle and broke his arm because he was sad about a bad haircut. Uncle Jesse's not a role model; he's a basket case. 4. Zack Morris from "Saved by the Bell" All the high school shenanigans and talking directly to the camera don't excuse the fact that the supposedly "coolest kid in school" Zack Morris, HANGS OUT WITH THE PRINCIPAL ALL THE TIME. If, at sixteen years old, you're spending your weekend trying to help Mr. Belding through an argument with his wife, you've lost the privilege of ever calling yourself "cool" again. 5. Vinnie Barbarino from "Welcome Back, Kotter" We were supposed to look up to Vinne Barbarino, as he was the leader of the Sweathogs-- a group of remedial inner-city high school students. Vinnie sure looked cool when cracking wise to Mr. Kotter in a classroom, but for some reason we doubt he looked quite as cool after high school, when the rest of his class went to college and found jobs, and he was still crawling through the window of Mr. Kotter's apartment looking for someone to insult. 6. Joey from "Blossom" Joey Russo was the typical "dumb jock" in the Blossom world, and that's fine, I guess. However, when a dude essentially comes into your home every week, exclaims "Whoa!" a few times, and then leaves... it starts to get really old really fast. In my opinionation, Joey was even more lame than Blossom's closet full of fugly hats. 7. Cody from "Step by Step" For some reason, we were supposed to believe Cody as the "cool dude" in Step by Step, despite the fact that he couldn't hold a job and was forced to live in a van in the Foster family's driveway. Also, how come nobody seemed to be creeped out by Cody's massive and overt crush on his cousin, Dana? They should have been forming a barricade to keep her away from that creepy stalker van. 8. Shawn Hunter from "Boy Meets World" First of all, Shawn is best friends with Cory Matthews, which automatically puts him high on the goober scale. And, while we won't hold his messed-up family life against him, that's still no excuse for becoming a teenage alcoholic and nearly flunking out of high school. Get it together, Shawn. 9. Hyde from "That 70s Show" You want to like Steven Hyde. After all, he came from a rough home, but doesn't let it define who he is. I was even happy for him when the Forman family decided to let him move in with them at the end of season one. However, when Hyde stayed there for seven years (even after Eric had moved out), my patience for Hyde had long since expired. The guy must've been 30 years old, and still living on a cot in his friend's parents' house. Lame. So, so lame. 10. Charlie Harper from "Two and a Half Men" I guess Charlie Harper was supposed to put the "fun" in "functioning alcoholic." Sure, he puts on a brave face, what with his drinking, smoking cigars, and wearing of ill-fitting bowling shirts, but once you realize that Charlie only did this because he was an out-of-work advertising jingle writer with no discernible skills, he becomes a lot more depressing. And, by killing off the character in season seven, Two and a Half Men portrayed a shockingly morbid ending to a sad, lonely, and pointless life.
