There is currently a Lifetime biopic about Michael Jackson that is in production right now. For a little while, the producers and director couldn't decide on who it could be to play the famous moonwalker until recently. Now, Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland has found its main protagonist, an authentic Michael Jackson impersonator named Navi. The man is stage performer from Trinidad, and like his idol, Navi has also undergone a chain of plastic surgery operations. One on his nose, one on his cheekbones and one on his chin so he can truly look and feel like the late Michael Jackson. Navi used to work for Jackson as an entertainment attraction for the kids, performing at his birthday parties at the famous Neverland Ranch. Even during the court trials during the pop star's later years, Navi stood outside of the courthouse every day, holding a sign up that read, "Smooth but not a criminal." He did this so that Michael would recognize Navi, but also because Navi believed in Michael. The film is structured into several episodes. It is formatted to focus mostly on the troubles that fame and fortune may bring, some troubles may offend some while capturing the true fans. What will the TV movie focus on most specifically? Click "Next" to find out. The Lifetime TV biopic is actually an adaptation of the New York Times Best Seller Remember the Time. The plot focuses on the last three years of Jackson's life, which were the most critical in his lifetime. The film is told through the perspectives of as Michael's two bodyguards, Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard. Navi has obviously previously spoken with the family, but never about this project. Although Michael Jackson's 18-year-old daughter Paris has outwardly rejected past movie portrayals of her late father, Navi believes that once the family sees the film, they will agree that it is a fair and honest depiction of the artist's final three years. This will be Navi's first legitimate acting role for the screen, however after production is over, Navi plans on going back to being just an everyday Michael Jackson tribute performer. He plans to pick his glove back on, slip on his dancing shoes and return to the stage where he feels he truly belongs. So when and where exactly does the film take place? Click "Next" to find out. The film cuts right into 2006, when Jackson and his three kids were returning to the U.S. from their stay in Bahrain, where they had been residing to avoid the press, following his clearance from all of the child-molestation charges. They move to Las Vegas, where he hoped to score a casino-concert residency. Before Jackson is introduced, the audience meets his body guard Whitfield, who is a single father in the private-security industry who is determined that any future tours won’t ever take away his beloved time with his daughter. Unfortunately, much to his dismay, Whitfield is hired immediately as Jackson's personal body guard, making him the only full time employee besides the other body guard, and the housekeeper. Jackson’s world as portrayed here is incredibly sheltered. Throughout the film, investigators will ask the Beard and Whitfield who was there the most for the star out of everyone else that he knew. The answer to this question is a selective one. There was nearly no one there for the famous pop star other than certain members of his staff, his mother, his children, and the fans hovering anxiously outside the gates of Neverland.
