There have been many terrible films made that we have had the unfortunate privilege of seeing, and/or of walking out of. In the 1970's, the B-list movie world was becoming popular with the advent and rise of drive in theaters. These are just some of the worst, worst movies to ever be distributed to theaters in the 1970's, way before Netflix was considered a secondary option. Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978) This horrible attempt at a rock opera is set to the late-period trippy Beatles hits, retells the concept of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which found success during World War I bringing its music to exhausted soldiers in the battlefield. The leader of the band has died and now it's up to his only grandson, Billy Shears portrayed by Peter Frampton to carry on the band's rituals. To this end, he recruits the Henderson brothers played by Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb and Maurice Gibb to help him protect the group's magical instruments from the abominable crook Mr. B.D. Hoffler played by Donald Pleasance. The film earned itself a measly 3.9 out of 10 rating on IMDB and a 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Exorcist II, The Heretic (1977) There is more than one reason this film did not make it our blockbuster hits from 1977 list. Feeling like he owes something to his exorcisms, Father Lamont portrayed by Richard Burton is picked out by his superiors to investigate the death of Father Merrin, who was played by Max von Sydow, who, if you remember died during the exorcism of young Regan MacNeil who was portrayed by Linda Blair. Father Lamont finds out that Regan is now currently under the psychiatric care of Dr. Tuskin who is played by Louise Fletcher. With the usage of psychological hypnosis, he is able to gather that Merrin had exorcised the very same demon from a young boy in Africa years back. Hoping for some clarity, Lamont travels to Africa in search of the boy. Beyond The Poseidon Adventure (1979) Although this film contains A-list celebrities such as Michael Caine and Sally Fields, that's probably the only thing the film has going for it. Another pointless movie sequel that follows two competing groups of vagabonds as they race to obtain a doomed a wrecked ship's treasure literally hours after it has been crushed by a tidal wave. When the treasure hunters enter the crippled liner through a hole cut by the coastguard they discover there are still more survivors trapped on board and the two groups attempt to carry out their plans before the ocean water finally claims the wrecked ship. Meteor (1979) In this forgettable disaster bomb of a film, Americans and Soviets must put forget about their issues to save mankind from a huge meteor plummeting down to Earth. Paul Bradley who Sean Connery had the unfortunate task of portraying hires fellow scientist Alexei Dubov who is played by Brian Keith, who is joined by his drop dead gorgeous assistant, Tatiana Donskaya played by Natalie Wood. Although Paul and Tatiana are romantically into each other, they make taking out the meteor top priority, which may still have a chance of causingmassive destruction even if it is only partly damaged. Empire Of The Ants (1977) Con artist Marilyn Fryser played by Joan Collin and a corrupt ship captain played by Robert Lansing, she takes investors who will believe anything on a cruise of the Everglades and she talks them into investing in a housing development that will actually never be. But when she and her latest group of hoodwinked tourists go ashore on a tiny island, they discover that illegally disposed toxic waste has created a species of gigantic human eating ants set to take over the world. The Bad News Bears Go To Japan (1978) Led by Marvin Lazar portrayed by Tony Curtis, their latest in a collection of grumpy grumpy coaches, the annoying and potty-mouthed Little Leaguers the Bad News Bears head over to Japan to face off against coach Shimizu who is played by Tomisaburô Wakayama and a team of the best young baseball players in Japan. While a wiseass Lazar tries to gather all the big-time television money he can, the now-teenage Kelly Leak played by Jackie Earle Haley falls in love with Arika who is portrayed by Hatsune Ishihara, a Japanese teenager who doesn't speak any English. If you even remember this film, I commend you. Night of the Lepus (1972) An Arizona rancher by the name of Cole Hillman, played by Rory Calhoun, is dealing with a major rabbit infestation on his land. He calls upon the president of a local college, Elgin Clark played by DeForest Kelley, to help him out. In order to rationally resolve the situation, Elgin brings in a couple of researchers Roy played by Stuart Whitman and Gerry Bennett played by Janet Leigh, who inject the rabbits with special chemicals. However, they don't think about the consequences of their actions. A breed of gigantic mutant bunnies arises and starts to mangle every human in their way. Tentacles (1977)When various people go missing in a touristy seaside town, reporter Ned Turner who is portrayed by John Huston helps to figure out the reason why there is a gigantic grotesque octopus roaming through the town. As the eight-legged beast terrorizes the shore town, a marine biologist by the name of Will Gleason played by Bo Hopkins tries to create a way to stop the octopus before more tourists fall victim to the creature. Meanwhile, a organization led by Mr. Whitehead, a character portrayed by Henry Fonda may be affiliated to the giant monster's malicious behavior. Ishtar (1987) Ten years after Tentacles put audiences to sleep, this sleeper took its place. Basically all you need to know is that two New York singers played by Warren Beatty, and believe it or not- Dustin Hoffman get booked to play in Marrakech and they stop in Ishtar, where they meet a super hot rebel played by Isabelle Adjani and somehow alarm the CIA.
