Aging gracefully is a beauty not afforded by all. As time goes on we see more and more wrinkles and gray hair as our beauty slips away. However, some of these stars of the 1960’s must have found the fountain of youth as you’ll see from these photos. Whatever they’re doing to keep their image up, whether that’s laser skin treatment, surgery or a strict diet and exercise regimen, it seems to be working! 1. Vanessa Redgrave Vanessa Redgrave is the daughter of the famous theater actor Michael Redgrave, and she originally followed in his footsteps and rose to prominence as a stage actress. However, she went on to become one of the most iconic film actresses of the 1960’s! She has been a prolific actress on the stage all throughout her career, but it has been her roles on the big screen that have made her a household name. Vanessa starred in more than 80 films over the years, including Camelot, Murder on the Orient Express, Mission: Impossible, and The Butler. Most notably, she won an Academy Award for her role in the 1977 film Julia. The actress is now in her mid-70s, but she still works regularly on television, film and theatre! 2. Julie Christie Winner of an Academy Award for her role in Darling, Julie Christie is a very memorable face of the big screen. Films such as Doctor Zhivago, Fahrenheit 451, Far from the Madding Crowd, and The Go-Between made her an icon of the 60’s. At one point, she was one of the most well-known actresses in Italy. She became known in the UK and USA for films such as The Pink Panther, Lost Command, and Once Upon a Time in the West. When she lost her taste for Hollywood, Claudia transitioned back to Italian and French cinema. These days, she can often be found speaking out on behalf of women’s rights. 7. Monica Vitti An award winning Italian actress, Monica Vitti became one of the most famous actresses of the 20th century in Italy thanks to her role in the award-winning 1960 film L’avventura. Monica never really crossed over into English-language films, but her Italian roles won her numerous awards including 7 Italian Golden Globes and the Venice Film Festival Career Golden Lion Award. Some of her other well-known works include Dramma Della gelosia, La Notte, and Le Fantôme de la liberté, the last of which secured her a prominent place in the film history of Italy. Her last film was Secret Scandal in 1989, and after that she dabbled in teaching, directing, and acting in the theater. Sadly, Monica has suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for the past 20 years and has rarely been seen in public because of her condition. 8. Anouk Aimée Appearing in very first film at the age of fourteen, Anouk Aimée is an award winning French actress who has been prolific in her work. In a poll done by Empire Magazine in 1995, Anouk was named one of the hundred sexiest stars in film history. She was known for femme fatale type roles, largely due to her striking features. Vera Miles Famous for her iconic role in the classic 1960 film Psycho, Vera Miles is one of the most memorable faces of 60’s cinema. She won the title of “Miss Kansas” in 1948 when she was 19 and went on to catch the eyes of famous directors, Alfred Hitchcock and John Ford. Ford cast her in the 1956 western film The Searchers, while Hitchcock was quick to put her under a personal contract and declare her as his “new Grace Kelly”. Unfortunately, Vera only ever appeared in one other Hitchcock film: 1956’s The Wrong Man. However, she did go on to appear in a number of other films and TV shows like The Twilight Zone, Psycho II, and Murder, She Wrote. She retired from acting in 1995, and today resides in California. 10. Jeanne Moreau An award winning actress from France, Jeanne Moreau made her debut as an actress in 1947. She originally performed on stage, establishing herself as a leading lady in the world of acting. She transitioned to films in 1949, starting small before achieving prominence with roles in films like Elevator to the Gallows. Though she was most well known in the 60’s, Jeanne remained an actress for much of her life. 11. Catherine Deneuve Known for her talent as an actress, singer, model, and producer, Catherine Deneuve has kept herself busy throughout a career spanning almost 50 years! The French actress has long been a familiar face in French cinema, and she’s been nominated for a total of 14 Cesar Awards over the course of her career. She’s won the prestigious French award twice, for the films The Last Metro and Indochine. Catherine is an international film star as well, and some of her English films include Hustle, Dancer in the Dark, and The Musketeer. She is still acting today, and most recently appeared in the 2015 films The Brand New Testament and Standing Tall. In her free time, the actress supports a number of charities and is well-known for being outspoken about her liberal political beliefs. 12. Donna Douglas Donna Douglas was an American actress and singer, known for her role as Elly May Clampett in CBS’s The Beverly Hillbillies. She also starred in films such as “Frankie and Johnny”, “Lover Come Back” and “Career”. She passed away in January of 2015. Her most prominent role was that of Agent 99 on the 1960s sitcom Get Smart. She also worked as a model. Working as a model is probably how she learned to make her eyes pop with how she dresses and the makeup she wears!
