5. Salt, Vinegar, and Ammonia
You probably have all three of these household staples in your pantry. Mix a tablespoon of salt with two tablespoons of vinegar and two tablespoons of ammonia. Soak a rag in the mixture and scrub the stain until it starts to loosen. You could also fill a sink with these ingredients and soak the clothing item if there is a lot of paint to remove.
6. Lavender Essential Oil
If you love using essential oils, they can work to remove paint stains as well! Put about five to seven drops of lavender essential oil on the stain and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then scrape the paint off with a spoon or butter knife. Repeat as needed.
7. Turpentine
If you are trying to get rid of an oil paint stain, you may need to use turpentine. You can also use paint thinner. Put the clothing item stain down on a stack of paper towels. Dab the stain with the paint thinner or turpentine and be careful because of the smell. It is best to do this outdoors and keep kids or pets away. When you have removed most of the stain, treat it with regular stain remover and wash.
8. Duct Tape
Yes, duct tape really does fix everything! If you have a latex paint stain that is really dry, try to scrape some of it off. Then put duct tape over it and try to get the paint off. Press firmly on the stain and lift the paint away.
