Vinegar is the holy grail of cleaning products and it’s not even a cleaning product in and of itself. While vinegar is primarily used for cleaning kitchen appliances like a dishwasher or a coffee machine, it can also be used for getting those nasty stains out of your laundry. If you have a couple of kids or grandkids who love to play with their food, this one is for you.
Vinegar works on the toughest of stains from tomato sauce to sweat stains, even those hard-to-eliminate grass stains. Here are 13 ways that your mom taught you for removing stains by just using vinegar!
1. Ink Stains
In order to get rid of ink stains that can be inevitable to get in the office, spray some hairspray on the stain and then dab some vinegar lightly over the area to remove it.
2. Sweat Stains
Pour some vinegar over the discolored area and rub some coarse salt into it. Table salt works, too. Then place the clothing item out in the sun to dry before washing!
3. Coffee/Tea Stains
Soak the stained item in 1/3 cup of vinegar mixed with 1/3 cup of water. Hang to air-dry in the sun for a bit then throw it in the wash per usual cleaning.
4. Crayon Stains
Rub some vinegar into the crayon stain with a toothbrush and toss the clothing item right in the wash. Viola!
5. Vomit Stains
Oh, this is a fun one. Rinse the clothing item in cool water to remove as much of the vomit as possible, then soak the stain with some vinegar and wash the item like usual. Repeat if necessary.
6. Blood Stains
Pour vinegar over the blood stain and let it soak for 15 minutes before rinsing it out with cool water. Repeat this step if necessary, then wash immediately after.
