5. Unclog the pipes
If you have an hour to unclog the pipes in your toilet, combine hot water and dishwashing detergent. Pour it into the toilet bowl and let it break down the blockage for about an hour. Once it is broken down, you should be able to flush with no issues.
6. Find out if you have a leak
If you think your toilet is leaking, get out the Kool-Aid again. You can also use food coloring. Add some of the Kool-Aid or food coloring to your tank. See if your toilet bowl changes color. If it does, this means that your toilet is indeed leaking. Unfortunately, you’ll have to call a plumber to fix this problem if you have it!
7. Stop wasting water
If you want to save water, put a small plastic bottle filled with sand or rocks in your tank. It will save water when you flush but will keep the same water pressure.
8. Stop your toilet from running nonstop
If your toilet keeps running when it isn’t supposed to, you’ll want to fix it as soon as possible. Just go to a home improvement store and buy a new flapper. It is the thing in your toilet tank that looks like a plug and is attached to a chain. Follow the instructions and install the new flapper. It should stop your toilet running issues.
9. Stop your toilet from smelling like a sewer
If you are having some smelly issues, put a few drops of a great-smelling essential oil in the toilet tank.
