On November 5th, 2018, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a recall of some of the most popular Duncan Hines Cake Mixes due to salmonella concerns. Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause food poisoning and the symptoms usually start to become more noticeable in the time span of about 12 to 72 hours after consuming the contaminated food.

A person with salmonella poisoning can expect to deal with diarrhea, cramps, fever, nausea, bloody stools, chills, headache, and vomiting. It is important that if you own any of the following cake mixes, to check the date, product UPC, and try your best to recall the date that it was purchased so you can make the best and safest decision for yourself and your family.

The FDA urges buyers to avoid consuming raw batters, follow all baking instructions thoroughly, and to always wash your hands, kitchen surfaces, and utensils after contact with raw batter. They’ve also suggested returning your products to the store or throwing them out entirely.
