7. Tomato Stains
Italians, this one is for you! Pour some vinegar over the tomato stain and let it soak in before throwing it into the wash as per usual. Check to make sure that the stain is actually out before running it through the dryer.
8. Mildew Stains
Mildew stains can occur when you forget to move the laundry from the washer to the dryer and it smells or even looks mildewy. To fix this, mix equals parts vinegar and water with some salt and soak the clothing in the little solution you just made. Repeat if necessary.
9. Mustard Stains
Apply vinegar to the stain and allow it to soak in. If there’s still some leftover stain residue, try mixing the vinegar with some laundry detergent. Process this solution thoroughly before throwing it in the wash. Repeat if necessary.
10. Iron Scorch Marks
Soak a cotton ball or spare rag in vinegar and dab it along the scorched area, then blot the stain with a clean rag afterward. Repeat the process if necessary.
11. Rust Stains
Soak a cotton ball into vinegar and use the cotton ball to dab at the stain. Then, coat the stain with a thin layer of salt and rub that into the vinegar and fabric. Lay outside to dry in the sunlight then wash.
12. Grass Stains
Soak the clothing item in vinegar for 30 minutes then throw it in the wash. If you can still see stain residue after a thorough wash and dry, try making a paste of vinegar and baking soda together to coat the stain using a toothbrush. Throw in the wash again.
13. Set-in Stains
Saturate with vinegar, then rub the spot with a paste made from equal parts vinegar and baking soda. If the stain persists, feel free to soak the item with a couple tablespoons of vinegar and laundry detergent in a bucket of water for up to 24 hours. Rinse and wash afterward.
