Food Expert Reveals The Smartest Way To Cut Watermelon For Summer Parties

Watermelon is one of the absolute best summer fruits. It’s sweet and refreshing, and it’s always the perfect snack for a picnic or barbecue.

Almost everyone cuts watermelon the same way: in slices. Typically, you cut the watermelon down the middle, then cut it into triangular slices. But what if I told you this wasn’t actually the best way to cut watermelon?

That’s right, there’s an even better way to chop and eat your favorite summer snack. Instead of eating triangular slices and getting watermelon juice all over your face, try cutting the fruit into rectangular pieces.

1. Slice the watermelon in half.

Using a sharp knife, slice the watermelon in half. It’s best to cut it the long way, straight down the middle.

2. Place the watermelon cut-side down.

Once you’ve cut the watermelon in half, put it cut-side down on a plate.

3. Cut the watermelon in a grid pattern.

Slice the watermelon into a grid shape. You should end up with a watermelon that looks like it’s been cut into squares.

4. Pull pieces of watermelon out and enjoy!
