Almost everyone has vinegar in their cabinet, even if they don’t use it very often. Vinegar is a great ingredient for certain recipes, but there are a lot more ways to use it than just in salad dressing. Check out some of the more unexpected uses for vinegar below!
1. Unclog A Drain
Make DIY drain cleaner using vinegar and baking soda. Pour half a cup of baking soda into the clogged drain, then follow it with a cup of vinegar. Once the mixture stops foaming, wash it out with hot water.
2. Remove Adhesive Residue
If a sticker or tape has left an annoying residue behind, use vinegar to get rid of the glue. Put white vinegar on the sticky mess, let it sit for a few seconds, then scrub it off.
3. Get Rid Of Odors
If you have a nasty-smelling garbage can or recycling bin, freshen it up using vinegar. Soak a piece of bread in vinegar, then put it in the can overnight.
4. DIY Cleaning Products
Make yourself an all-purpose cleaner that’s much cheaper than the store-bought alternatives. Fill a spray bottle one third of the way with vinegar, then add water to fill the bottle. Add a few drops of your favorite dish soap, and you’re set to spray.
5. DIY Fruit Fly Trap
Pour apple cider vinegar into a cup, cover it with plastic wrap, and poke a few holes in it. The fruit flies will be attracted to the vinegar, but get stuck underneath the plastic wrap.
6. Get Wrinkles Out Of Clothing
Make your clothes flat without an iron using this handy mixture. Combine one part vinegar with three parts water, and mist your clothing using a spray bottle.
7. Prevent Cats From Scratching
If your cats are scratching up your furniture, spritz the area with vinegar. Cats hate vinegar, so they’ll avoid it at all costs.
8. Make Flowers Last Longer
To make your flowers live longer, add a little bit of apple cider vinegar to the water. This will keep them fresh and bright for a while.
9. Clean Your Glasses
Instead of using an expensive lens cleaner on your glasses, just spray them with a bit of white vinegar and wipe them off with a soft cloth.
10. Clean Frying Pans
Boil equal amounts of white vinegar and water (about a cup each) in any pan with gunk stuck on it, and watch the pan become good as new!
