Lauren Alaina, a 23-year-old from Rossville, Georgia, won new female vocalist of the year! She was up against Carly Pearce, Danielle Bradbery, and RaeLynn.
New Male Vocalist of the Year: Brett Young
Brett Young, a former college baseball player, won over Russell Dickerson, Kane Brown, Devin Dawson, and Luke Combs.
New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year: Midland
Midland, a group formed in 2016, beat four other groups/duos to win this award. The other nominees were LANCO, LOCASH, High Valley, and Runaway June.
Album of the Year: “From A Room Vol. 1” by Chris Stapleton
It was a big night for Chris Stapleton, who won Album of the Year in addition to Male Vocalist of the Year. Other nominees for this category were “Life Changes” by Thomas Rhett, “California Sunrise” by Jon Pardi, “The Breaker” by Little Big Town, and “Happy Endings” by Old Dominion.
