Worst Costume Fails In Film History

Okay, I'll admit that I'm not one to notice the small details of life. I remember when I first got my drivers license and got behind the wheel that I couldn't remember how to get to certain places that I'd been to millions of times before. I was just used to being taken there while I daydreamed in the passenger seat!But this lack of attention to detail has definitely gotten me concerned, especially when I realized I missed a few of THESE major costume mistakes in my favorite movies. Check out these 20+ costume fails... 1. Braveheart History has proven that people in Scotland didn't wear kilts until about the 16th century. However, Mel Gibson's character can be seen rocking one throughout the entire Braveheart movie, which takes place in the 1300s. 2. Django Unchained Despite the fact that sunglasses weren't worn in America until the year 1929, Jamie Foxx can be seen sporting a nice pair throughout this Tarantino epic set about 70 years prior. 3. My Girl Remember Vada's mood ring? Well, it must give her the power to travel through time because these weren't invented until three years after the film is supposed to take place. 4. Schindler's List Have you ever noticed that all of the women in the film have shaven legs and armpits? Not only is it hard to believe that the women in the concentration camps were so concerned about their body hair, but shaving wasn't much of a trend for European women in the 1940s. 5. Singin' In The Rain The pink, poofy gown that Cathy wears in this scene was a very popular look in the 1950s, however, the film is supposed to take place in the '20s. Awkward... 6. Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade All of those Nazis that Harrison Ford fights are wearing war medals that were used during WWII. However, the film is supposed to take place before the war even happened. 7. Pirates Of The Caribbean Have you ever noticed the random cowboy in this scene of the movie? He must not have gotten the memo that they were playing pirates... 8. The Aviator These thin, frameless glasses that Robert Gross wears are far too modern of a look for the 1920s. 9. Seabiscuit If you pay attention to the jockeys you'll notice that all of them are wearing chin straps. This was a feature that wasn't introduced to horse racing until 1956, however, the film takes place in the '30s. 10. Amadeus Many outfits throughout the film have zippers, even though they weren't invented until 120 years after Mozart's death. 11. Dirty Dancing Throughout the film, Baby can be seen sporting a cute pair of denim shorts that were made popular throughout the 1980s. Too bad the film was set in the '60s! 12. Pride & Prejudice The classic novel Pride and Prejudice, written by Jane Austen was published in 1813. In the Hollywood film version, Lizzie wears rubber Wellington boots. Except the rubber boot was not produced until 1853. 13. Pearl Harbor Prior to WWII no well-dressed woman would be caught without wearing nylon stockings. In the film which is set weeks prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, the women are all seen with bare legs. 14. Gladiator The movie is set around the time of the life and death of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius who lived from April 26, 121 AD to March 17, 180 AD. In the big blockbuster, Russell Crowe can be seen wearing lycra shorts while fighting tigers. 15. Saving Private Ryan In the movie, Saving Private Ryan some of the paratroopers wear black boots. During WWII, the color of the boots issued was brown. It was not until 1950 that it was switched to black. 16. Catch Me If You Can Amy Adams sports a pretty, metal smile full of braces in the movie set in the 1960's. This type of braces were not introduced till the mid-1970's. 17. The Ten Commandments Anne Baxter played Nefretiri in the story of Moses. In some of the scenes, you can see the actor's lace trim bra peeking out of her dress. 18. American Hustle See that Rolex? It was made in 2010, but the movie takes place in the '70s. 19. The Doors In The Doors, Val Kilmer who played the role of the legendary singer Jim Morrison is wearing Ray Ban sunglasses which were only produced in the 80’s. However, Morrison died in 1971 and the movie is set mostly in the sixties. 20. Almost Famous The movie is set in the 70s but someone backstage is wearing a Black Sabbath T-Shirt from 1997. 21. Glory In one scene, one of the children Morgan Freeman talks to, you can notice a soldier wearing a digital watch around his wrist. Wristwatches weren’t really around until 1923, let alone electronic ones which only became trendy in the seventies. 22. Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves Robin Hood has appeared in English folklore, both literature and ballads as early as 1377. In the movie with Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman, Robin uses a telescope.
