
Octogenarian Hamish was initially skeptical about the experiment and thought it wouldn’t make much of a difference to interact with the little ones every day – but turned out to be the biggest convert to the healing power of children’s laughter.
“This I think is going to be a total disaster. I can’t quite see what effect the children are going to have on the adults. I can’t really see what difference it’s going to make for us,” he said at the beginning of the program.

But after being won over by the kids offering to make him a (pretend) cup of tea and their curiosity about his artificial leg, Hamish said he experienced “sheer delight” in playing with the children.
