Winner of the “Most Beautiful Italian Girl in Tunisia” competition in 1957, Claudia Cardinale’s beauty made her a very memorable face in the acting world. At one point, she was one of the most well-known actresses in Italy. She became known in the UK and USA for films such as The Pink Panther, Lost Command, and Once Upon a Time in the West. When she lost her taste for Hollywood, Claudia transitioned back to Italian and French cinema. These days, she can often be found speaking out on behalf of women’s rights.

Some of her other well-known works include Dramma Della gelosia, La Notte, and Le Fantôme de la liberté, the last of which secured her a prominent place in the film history of Italy. Her last film was Secret Scandal in 1989, and after that she dabbled in teaching, directing, and acting in the theater. Sadly, Monica has suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for the past 20 years and has rarely been seen in public because of her condition.
