A lot of musicians have been so kind to us during this coronavirus pandemic by hosting virtual music events from their own homes. Willie Nelson is one of them, and he’s hosting another one! He will now be hosting the event At Home With Farm Aid on Saturday, April 11th at 8:00 p.m. ET. The live-streamed show will be available to watch on AXS TV and the Farm Aid website.

The show will feature performances from Farm Aid board members Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, and Nelson himself. We can also expect to see Nelson’s sons, Lukas and Micah. They will all be performing from their respective homes. It’s going to be a show you don’t want to miss!

“On the Farm Aid stage last September, my friend and fellow board member John Mellencamp said, ‘Be hopeful about, have faith in and be grateful for right now; the miracle of life is in the dirt under our farmers’ fingernails,’” Nelson says in a statement. “He was right and I’m so grateful for the farmers, ranchers and farmworkers who are on the frontlines sustaining all our communities. Now, more than ever, stay strong and positive.”

This is going to be the second show that Nelson has hosted since the stay-at-home orders of the pandemic began in the U.S. Back on March 19th, he hosted the virtual Luck Reunion show with Paul Simon, Edie Brickell, Lucinda Williams, Neil Young, and many more. This single show was actually one of the first and influenced many other artists to follow suit with digital/virtual shows online.

The original show is supposed to be in September, but that may not happen

Farm Aid was originally held back in 1985 and it hasn’t taken off for a single year since 1991. Usually, it’s held in September outdoors at an amphitheater, but because of the coronavirus closures, it’s possible that a September gathering may not be possible this year. With this being the case, it’s nice that Nelson and his gang are providing fans with an alternative! “Farm Aid is working hard to support farmers and ranchers in this difficult time,” Nelson says in his statement.

“We’re making emergency grants to help with household and medical expenses. We’re answering calls on our hotline.” He continues, “We’re creating lists of resources and working with our partners to advocate for policies that build a more resilient food system for the future.”
