On the last day of August at 8:32 PM (AKDT) Alaska was hit with a magnitude 5.0 earthquake. The Labor Day seismic event took place just 44 miles South West of Klukwan. The earthquake had a depth of under 1 mile but was felt by residents reaching as far as the state capital, Juneau. At this time The U.S. Tsunami Warning System has not issued a Tsunami Warning/Threat. Alaska's Earthquake Center is asking residents who felt the 5.0 quake to please submit a report if possible.
