Matthew Resendez is a young boy who works at his local Burger King. He was raised by his mother to not hold any prejudice in his heart against those who are different or less fortunate than him and to always be a loving, kind person. When a homeless man came into his Burger King short of change for a meal, his values were put to the test.
The homeless man came into Matthew’s Burger King with 50 cents to his name. He did not beg, but rather asked Matthew what he could afford with the change he had. Matthew realized that 50 cents wasn’t even enough to buy the cheapest entree on the menu, but then Matthew did something incredible.

Matthew’s mom posted about the encounter on Facebook and was clearly very proud!
“Matthew asked him what he would order if he could and the man said anything would help his hunger pains. So Matthew rung him up for a hearty meal and then used his own debit card to pay for the man’s meal. He handed him the receipt and told him to relax and take a seat,” the post explained.
The story doesn’t end there! Apparently, a woman at Burger King was looking onto the boy’s random act of kindness and was so moved by the experience that she wrote to the company to let them know about their loving employee and also tipped Matthew a $100 bill, which Matthew can be seen holding in the photo above.
Similar to that woman onlooking the situation, almost 165,000 people have commented on the original post commending Matthew for his good deed.

“Proud mom moment! Matthew worked this evening and a homeless gentlemen walked in the restaurant with .50 cents and asked if there was anything on the menu he could buy. Matthew asked him what he would order if he could and the man said anything would help his hunger pains. So Matthew rung him up for a hearty meal and then used his own debit card to pay for the mans meal. He handed him the receipt and told him to relax and take a seat. The story could end there and It would be a happy ending, but apparently a woman watched my son during his random act of kindness. Not only did she write the company to let them know about the caring employee they had working for them, she also rewarded my son with a very generous tip! So proud to be his mom and I can pat myself on the back knowing that I’ve played a part in raising this big hearted young man.”
