If you’ve ever wanted to live like Willy Wonka for a night, now you can. Booking.com has now listed a cottage that is made entirely out of chocolate. You read that right, chocolate. The best part? It only costs $59 per night.
Unfortunately, unless you already live in France, it would cost a pretty penny just to get there. It is called the life-size Chocolate Cottage at L’Orangerie de la Manufacture in Sèvres, France. The cottage is located in the magnificent glass house L’Orangerie Ephémère in the gardens of the Cité de la Céramique in Sèvres. Chocolatier Jean-Luc Decluzeau designed and constructed the 18-square-meter cottage from 1.5 tons of chocolate.
Also, there is no bathroom inside (a chocolate toilet probably wouldn’t work very well), but the website says there are bathrooms nearby.
Memories of my grandmother’s cabin in West Virginia are flooding back! Have you ever used an Outhouse? What about a Chocolate Outhouse!? Did you ever wonder why Outhouses have the Crescent Moon on the door? Check it out below!
The entire cottage walls, roof, fireplace, and dresser are made from chocolate. Even the clock, books, chandelier, and cups are made of chocolate too! While you obviously can’t eat the home, there are plenty of chocolate details that you can eat.
According to Booking.com, Decluzeau said, “I never thought I’d have the opportunity to build a life-size Chocolate Cottage for travelers to sleep in! I’m excited to collaborate with Booking.com and to share my passion for chocolate. I hope guests will relish the chance to experience such a sweet and unique place to stay.”
While the cottage is fairly small, it would fit up to four guests. There is obviously a very high interest in booking this cottage, so unless you act fast, you may have to wait a long time for this cool opportunity. But, if you are a true chocolate fan, you might want to start saving up now!
If you do end up booking this chocolate cottage, you will also get to participate in a workshop led by the master chocolatier himself. You will get to create personalized mini chocolate homes with Jean-Luc as your instructor.
You will also receive dinner and breakfast the next day served in the flower garden. Do you think there are any chocolate flowers?
Would you ever stay in a chocolate cottage? What do you think about this idea and how it looks? It looks almost too good to eat! But, wouldn’t you be tempted to just eat everything in there?
Please SHARE with a friend who would love to stay in a chocolate cottage for a night or if you know anyone heading to France!
