Drue Heinz, the former wife of Henry John Heinz II, died in March 2018. She was 103 years old. She lived in an amazing townhouse in New York City that is now on sale for $21 million. This gorgeous, Georgian-style home was actually designed for Anne Vanderbilt in 1920. Charles Merrill from Merrill Lynch has also once owned the home.
The home has beautiful river views and a shared garden. It does appear to be fit for royalty with that famous blue door, a huge entrance hall, an impressive staircase, and much more.
The decor is very old school and vintage. Hopefully whoever buys the home will keep many of its historic elements. This 7,000 square foot home includes six bedrooms, six full bathrooms, two half baths, six fireplaces, a chef’s kitchen, a wood-paneled library, and a breakfast room.
One of the sitting rooms is decorated with lots of florals and peachy pink tones. Can you imagine yourself sitting here with a cup of tea?
The third floor contains the master bedroom. It has views of both the water and the garden. It also has a magnificent bathroom with white marble accents, custom closets, and a dressing area.
When you reach the fourth floor, there is a sunroom with glass ceilings and walls. This gives you an amazing view of the water and the bridge that almost looks unreal.
The dining room is in all shades of orange and red and looks fit for a king’s meal. Obviously, if you are rich enough to purchase this home, you might bring staff with you. This home also has many staff rooms.
Whoever purchases this grand home will also donate to charity. Heinz made the decision before she passed that a portion of the profit from this sale will go to charities. She was a philanthropist who often donated to the literary community.
The home is also right by the home of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and famous architect I.M. Pei. How cool would it be to have famous neighbors!
