Sources have confirmed that Prince Harry did a little extra something special for now-wife Meghan Markle just days before their relationship went public. The gift was actually top-secret and no one was to know about it. This just proves that Prince Harry is definitely the awesome husband that everyone assumes he is.
Harry allegedly spent thousands of dollars on a piece of art called Everybody Needs Somebody To Love by Van Donna. He apparently bought it ‘for an important person’ in October of 2016. The piece is very simple and neutral-colored but speaks volumes through the words.
The piece of art is a diptych, meaning that there are two sides included on the canvas forming a total of one piece of art. One side consists of a man and a woman holding hands, and the other consist of lettering, forming the words, “Everybody Needs Somebody To Love.”
A local art collector spoke to People about Prince Harry and his chosen art piece for Meghan way back in the day. They said, “Harry is one of the regulars in the area and regularly goes into the shops and galleries with his bodyguard, kind of in stealth mode…”
“He was in the gallery for a little while and liked a few things, then settled on the Van Donna. He said he was looking for something for ‘an important person.’ It was literally just before anyone heard about Meghan—literally just days before it was announced he was going out with her.”
Sources aren’t sure as to how much Prince Harry actually spent on the piece, but similar pieces sold in 2016 from the same gallery went for as much as $5,000. It was purchased at the Walton Fine Arts gallery in Kensington.
According to Time, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle met in London in July 2016 and they were introduced by a mutual friend. In late October 2016, a close source had confirmed the two had been seriously dating for about two months at that point. On November 8th, 2016, Royal Kensington Palace released a statement referring to Meghan as Prince Harry’s girlfriend for the first time.
