The hills will be alive with The Sound of Music once again starting this September 2018. Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies have announced that one of the most popular movies of all time is coming back to a screen near you.
The Sound of Music will be returning to over 600 nationwide movie theaters on September 9 and 12th. This is part of a yearlong TCM Big Screen Classics series.
You can purchase tickets starting on July 27, 2018, on FathomEvents.com.
The Sound of Music stars the iconic Julie Andrews and features many musical numbers that are still sung around the world such as “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “Do-Re-Mi,” and “My Favorite Things”.
The movie will be seen on the big screen in its original widescreen version, including a mid-film intermission, which isn’t normally done these days. It will play twice daily at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 9 and Wednesday, September 12.
The Sound of Music grossed over $100 million at its time of release and stayed in many theaters for over a year, which is unheard of. It won five Oscars at the 1966 Academy Awards as well.
During the showings, TCM Primetime Host Ben Mankiewicz will offer brand-new commentary before and after the movie.
Will you go see The Sound of Music in theaters again? Are you excited? What a great opportunity to share this classic movie with your children or grandchildren in the theater! You can check out Fathom Events website on July 27 to see if The Sound of Music will be showing at a theater near you.
