Prince Louis was born on April 23rd, 2018 and the world just couldn’t wait to see the royal family’s newest pride and joy. Kate Middleton looked absolutely beautiful at the Prince’s christening at the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace in London. It took place on July 9th.
Prince Louis wore this absolutely gorgeous long gown that his other siblings wore as well to their own christenings. It is reportedly a replica of a dress that royal babies have been wearing to their christenings since 1841. Louis was wearing “the handmade replica of the Royal Christening Robe, made by Angela Kelly, Dressmaker to The Queen.”
Among those in attendance from the Royal Family included Prince Harry and Meghan, the newly named Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Charles and Camila, Kate’s parents Michael and Carole Middleton, her brother James, her sister Pippa and husband James Matthews. In addition to the adult family members, Prince George and little Princess Charlotte were also in attendance.
Shortly before the ceremony commenced, the 6 godparents to Prince Louis were announced. They included a number of close family friends and Kate’s cousin Lucy. According to reports, William and Kate always preferred to choose godparents who were considered friends or cousins rather than immediate family.
On July 9th, Prince Louis was baptized into the Church of England by the same reverend who presided over Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding, the Most Reverend Justin Welby. Since the Christian religion has been connected to the royal family since 1534, they’re keeping it a tradition starting from baptism. Queen Elizabeth II, who was not in attendance, is the Supreme Governor of the church.
It’s no secret that Prince Louis is the royal baby the world has been waiting for. Look at that face!
Even his older siblings have taken a deep liking to their new baby brother. We couldn’t be happier for the royal family!
The only other photos of Prince Louis that have been shared with the public were taken back at the beginning of May. The photos were taken by his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge.
