It’s no secret that once you become a mom, cleaning becomes very difficult. It also doesn’t stop when they surpass the terrible twos. If anything, it just gets worse. This one mother just won over the entire Internet with her “Real Mom’s Guide to A ‘Clean’ House.” We think some moms out there might be able to relate!
A blogger named Meredith Ethington created this guide for moms who are just trying to clean their homes. It includes pretty honest things like “close bedroom doors to your kids’ rooms so you forget how messy they are” and more humorous things like “consider burning your house down because you’re too far behind”.
Meredith spoke with Woman’s Day and stated the following, “I find myself overwhelmed with the daily tasks of just keeping the house picked up and staying on top of the laundry. Yet I kept seeing all these guides on Pinterest that talk about how you can keep your house looking spotless in an hour or less per day.”
In Meredith’s opinion, these Pinterest guides just weren’t doing it for her, mainly because they weren’t realistic enough. So, she made her own. She also took to her Facebook to delve a little deeper into her homemade Real Mom’s guide. The video is pretty hysterical!

Meredith is a mom to 3 children, ages 5, 8, and 10. Otherwise known as the best ages to inspire a mother to create her own cleaning guide for moms! She claims that she wanted to show both the pretty and the messy sides of parenting, which many people decide to cover up in order to make it look glamorous and fun. Well, it’s not all fun and games!
“Yes, we need to clean our houses! But do they need to look like a magazine? No way. We do live here, after all,” Meredith says. We agree!
