Prince Philip Turns 98 – Take A Look Back At Some Of The Duke Of Edinburgh’s Best Moments

On Monday, June 10, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh turned 98. Later this year, Philip and Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate their 72nd wedding anniversary. Over the last seven decades, the couple has had many beautiful memories together.

See some of their sweetest moments and great throwback photos of Prince Philip from over the years below.

1929: A young Prince Philip attending school in St Cloud, France.

1933: A photo of a young Prince Philip while he was in school.

1947: After their simple wedding, the Queen (then Princess) and the Duke of Edinburgh honeymooned at Broadlands in Hampshire and Birkhall, Balmoral.

1948: The Queen (then a Princess) attended Garter Day, where she and Prince Philip were invested as Lady and Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter.

1949: The couple lived in Malta between 1949 and 1951 when The Duke of Edinburgh was the leader of the First Destroyer Flotilla CHEQUERS in the Mediterranean Fleet.

1950: Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth, photographed with their two eldest children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne.

1949-1951: The Duke of Edinburgh often played polo at the racecourse whilst stationed in Malta as a naval officer between 1949 and 1951.

1953: On June 2, the Queen was officially coronated with her husband by her side. She was 25 at the time of her ascension to the throne, and they’d actually been on Tour in Kenya at the time of her father’s death. Her coronation was watched by 27 million people in the UK alone.

1958: The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were photographed meeting artists of The Royal Ballet backstage at the Royal Opera House.

1972: The Queen and Prince Philip pose for a photo at Buckingham Palace with their four children, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.
