Sleepovers aren’t just meant for 6th-grade girls and their best friends. Anyone can have a sleepover.
Adults might not want to call them that anymore, because they sound too childish, but at the end of the day if you’re sleeping at a friend’s house or they are sleeping at yours, it is a sleepover. And if Queen Elizabeth II can have one, why can’t you?
It looks like the Queen and Meghan Markle are already getting along very well. The Duchess of Sussex was invited to spend a night aboard the royal train as part of her first outing with the Queen. With Meghan’s impeccable fashion sense, she probably has the perfect pajamas to wear for this sleepover.
The Queen and Duchess of Sussex will be taking the train on an almost 200-mile journey up to Cheshire together on June 14. They are scheduled to open the Mersey Gateway Bridge together. They will also officially open Storyhouse, a theater, cinema, and library. From there, they will attend lunch at Chester Town Hall.
The train was designed in 1842 during Queen Victoria’s reign so that it could serve as a home for the royal family when they were away on official business. Queen Elizabeth II has her own private saloon. It includes a bedroom, a sitting room, and a bathroom with a full-sized tub. According to Royal Central, the train has to slow down around 7:30 AM, so water does not splash while the Queen takes her bath.
If you think that this is all moving fast for Meghan Markle, you’d be right. Many members of the royal family have not been invited on the train with the Queen, including her grandsons, Prince Harry and Prince William, or his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Many have commented on the speed in which the Queen has accepted Meghan. Robert Lacey, the historical consultant for The Crown, said that the outing is “a really positive sign of favor, encouragement, and endorsement by the Queen.”
If only we could be a fly on the wall for that train ride! Congrats to Meghan for earning such a coveted invitation. We wonder if Meghan’s dog, Guy, was also invited?
