5 Alarming Signs You Might Have A Vitamin D Deficiency

Vitamin D is a necessary vitamin, just like all the others, to help build strong and healthy bones. In addition to keeping your bones healthy, it also assists in reducing disease-causing inflammation in the body. It’s often thought of as the sunshine vitamin, because you receive vitamin D through the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

It’s just a matter of fact that many of us don’t get enough vitamin D. Here are some signs that you might be vitamin D deficient.

1. You’re noticeably weak

Being deficient in vitamin D can make you feel completely and utterly exhausted, even when you get enough sleep every night. Studies show that those who increase their levels of vitamin D notice their fatigue fade away.

2. Random aches and pains

It’s common that if you’re deficient enough in vitamin D, it may cause aches and pains throughout your body. If it lasts several weeks, you should consult a healthcare professional for treatment options including vitamin D.

3. You’re sweating a lot more than usual

If you spend most weekends chilling out in your room watching Netflix, but you find yourself unbearably sweaty, it might not be the movie you’re watching. Research shows that if you’re sweating a lot in a cool room, your activity is sedentary, and your body temp is near 98.6, you may be lacking vitamin D.

4. You feel depressed

There are many things in life that can cause us to feel down, but those deficient in vitamin D may experience depression seasonally. Vitamin D works in the same areas of the brain as the things that affect the overall mood of a person: serotonin and dopamine.

5. You broke a bone

Lack of vitamin D can speed up or worsen osteoporosis, a condition in which the bones become more fragile and susceptible to fracture or breaks. Osteoporosis is more common later in life, but can set in earlier due to genetics. In this case, it’s good to keep a close eye on your vitamin D levels.

Did you check ‘yes’ to any of these signs? It may be time for you to head outside and get some time in the sun! Make sure to share this with your friends and family so they know the warning signs, too.
