6. How about the ultimate Star Trek prop collectible-The original Star Trek TV series “command chair” and platform, which sold for $304,750 in 2002.
7. If you watched the original Star Trek TV series, you should remember this hideous face shown on your TV screen after each Star Trek episode. It’s called, Balok’s puppet head and it was used in the Star Trek episode called “The Corbomite Maneuver”-from Season 1; Episode 10. It sold for a scary $80,500 in June 2010.
Did you know in this early episode, a young Clint Howard (Ron Howard’s little brother), plays the alien “child” sharing some delicious “Tranya” drink with the USS Enterprise crew at the end?
8. A spacesuit that was worn by Dr. McCoy, the same as these pictured below, from the 1960’s Star Trek TV series episode called “The Tholian Web,” sold for over $120,000 at a Christie’s auction in October 2006.
9 Capt. Kirk’s Phaser Rifle from the 1966 Star Trek-Season 1; Episode 3, “Where No Man Has Gone Before,” sold for over $231,000 (auction fees included) in 2013, at Julien’s Hollywood Legends auction.
The two main characters in this Star Trek episode-Lt. Cmdr. Gary Mitchell and Dr. Dehner (Played by Gary Lockwood and Sally Kellerman), had to wear sparkly contact lenses- which consisted of some good old tinfoil sandwiched between two lenses that covered the entire eye. Mitchell had some difficulty seeing through them. He could only see by looking downward while positioning his head upwards.
10. Original Star Trek TV series Shuttlecraft TV exterior prop known as the Galileo NCC-1701/7, which measures 24-ft long, 9-ft tall and 9-ft wide in the front, sold for $61,000 at Kiko Auctioneers auction in 2012. (The thruster dome was missing and the exterior definitely needed some work done.)
During its heyday in the 1960’s, this is what the Star Trek Galileo shuttlecraft once looked like.
Thanks to Mr. N. J. Schneider, who purchased the original Galileo when it was auctioned off; restored and then donated it for exhibit at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.
OK, all you Star Trekkies fans, if you’re ready to beam aboard an accurate reproduction of the Starship USS Enterprise, it’s now possible by visiting “Star Trek Original Series Set Tour” in Ticonderoga, NY.
