In the meantime, a spokesman for a group which is dedicated to protecting the lives of insects called Buglife was quoted as saying that the group believes that the art form is ok, so long as the nest is empty when the molten aluminum is poured. He said that it presents a great way to learn about how amazing ants are when it comes to building. However, he says that should there be ants in the mounds, it is an extremely cruel way to kill them.
