The Lantern of Chagrin Valley Nursing Home in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, is hoping to change all that with its uplifting take on senior living.

From the outside, Lantern of Chagrin Valley appears to be a traditional nursing home.

It is one of three breathtaking nursing facilities across the country that was designed specifically for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.

A special fiber optic lighting system is used to simulate clouds in the sky, and it even brings out dazzling stars at night.

The floors of the home are designed to look like grass, and residents are treated to the sounds of birds chirping every morning.

CEO Jean Makesh states that every decor decision is directly tied to a therapeutic advantage. He is hopeful that such an environment will slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s and dementia in his residents.
