Glamorous Grandmother Becomes Oldest CoverGirl Model Ever At Age 69

At age 69, Maye Musk is CoverGirl’s oldest spokesmodel. The mother and grandmother has had an incredibly fulfilling life, and now she’s living her dream as a top model!

Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, Maye was one of five children. When she was two, her family moved to Pretoria, South Africa. She had an adventurous childhood, traveling all around the world with her parents.

In high school, Maye met her future husband, Errol Musk. Errol and Maye got married in 1970.

Together, they had three children: Elon, Kimbal, and Tosca. (Yes, Maye is the mother of Elon Musk, billionaire entrepreneur, investor, and engineer.) In 1979, Maye and Errol split up. Eventually, Maye followed her children to Canada.

Maye has two Master’s degrees: one in dietetics and the other in nutritional science. In addition to being extremely smart, Maye is also stunningly beautiful — and always has been. She began her modeling career at age 15, doing runway shoots and catalogs.

In 1969, Maye was a finalist in the Miss South Africa beauty competition. Although she continued modeling after she had her children, her modeling career took a backseat to making sure there was food on the table and raising successful kids. When her kids were young, Maye worked five jobs to provide for them. Eventually, once her kids were grown up, Maye was able to turn her focus back to modeling.

Today, she’s not only a CoverGirl, but she also models for other big brands, like Target and Virgin America. She even starred in one of Beyoncé’s music videos!

So how does Maye feel about finding success in the modeling agency as an older woman? “I’m living proof that [you can] find work for an older woman . . . I’ve never worked so much as I do now,” she told Vanity Fair.
