The Ultimate Wonder Woman: Lynda Carter

Carter was never completely comfortable with what she saw as exploitation. “I never meant to be a sexual object for anyone but my husband, she said. I never thought a picture of my body would be tacked up in men’s bathrooms. I hate men looking at me and thinking what they think. And I know what they think. They write and tell me.” Following her four-year run on Wonder Woman, Carter appeared in many TV episodes, as well as a few big-screen features.

But as she turns 63 years old, Carter has added to her wonderful super deeds. She has been a staunch advocate for breast-cancer awareness, the pro-choice rights for women, and equality for the LGBT community. A stunning actress known for fighting the good fight both on TV as well as in real life Carter remains one of our favorite superheroes. And if the sneak peak we just got of the new Wonder Woman (in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) is any indication, then Carter will surely retain the crown forever. Gone is the star-spangled outfit; Wonder Woman’s new look, as worn by actress Gal Gadot, is Mad Max. Not a costume that will stand the test of time and replace Carter’s iconic look seen at least once on every little girl (and some boys) each Halloween.
