Till Death Do Us Part: Elderly Couple Married For 60 Years Die Together While Holding Hands

By Zack Walkter

What Ed did not know was that Floreen had been hospitalized days after him for congestive heart failure. Even though Ed was initially considered too weak for a move, arrangements were finally made for him to be transported to his wife’s side in a hospice room located in their hometown.

Ed, every 30 minutes or so, would roll over, tap Floreen, and say, “You still there?”

Ed waited until his wife took her last breath before passing away 36 hours later. The two were holding hands.

As he promised her parents so long ago, Ed really did carry Floreen until the day he died.

The images of Ed and Floreen holding hands have spread worldwide, along with an inspiring message of love and devotion. What a perfect ending to the perfect love story.
