“Airplane”, starring Leslie Nielson, is a hilarious 1980 parody film that spawned classic one-liners and gags that have stood the test of time. Directed by Jim Abrahams and David Zucker, “Airplane” quickly earned a reputation as a classic; the movie has received many accolades including a spot on The New York Times list of “1000 Best Movies Ever Made”. The movie is a spoof on airplane disaster movies, with Dr. Rumack (played by Nielson) and crew desperately trying to land a plane when the pilot falls ill. Oddly enough hilarity ensues. Surely you don’t need to speak jive to know how great “Airplane” is…and “don’t call me Shirley”.
A big shout-out to Tom Gilligan for his submission. Thanks Tom!
