11. It’s not all fancy field-work
The secret service agents go through three stages in their careers as agents. They aren’t directly put out there to protect the president. That comes much later. First, it’s some office work. Then, for about 4-7 years, they go through more challenging tasks. Based on their performance, they are either promoted or demoted in the third stage.
12. There’s no oath-taking
The agents are the ones responsible for taking care of the president’s life. Despite this, the agents don’t have to swear to God or take an oath to take the bullet for him.
13. The Origin story might surprise you
The secret service was first formed to tackle issues about financial frauds and forgeries. This is still one of the main things on their agenda, apart from protecting the president and his family.
14. They have no encumbrances
With their hands always around their waists, the agents walk and talk and sit in a highly watchful and cautious manner. In emergency cases, their hand placements allow them to draw the weapon swiftly.
15. There have been no traitors so far
There has not been a single incident of an agent betraying the country!
The president who is responsible for keeping the nation safe has this extraordinarily talented group of people to help him successfully achieve the aim. They certainly deserve the praise.
