There’s Only One Letter That’s Not In Any U.S. State Name. Can You Guess It?

The United States of America, such a wonderful place! This is a map that we see all the time, but most people can’t really point out more than 10 states. It’s not hard to imagine that to spell out our 50 states we need to use a lot of letters. With our iconic map, we’ve created a fun quiz (or at least we hope you enjoy it).

Okay, here’s the rub… Believe it or not, to spell all 50 states we are only using twenty-five out of the twenty-six letters of the alphabet.

Here’s your challenge: Can you name the one letter in the alphabet that doesn’t appear in any of the names of the fifty United States? Take some time to think this through.

If you’re like me, you guessed J. And you’d be close, but the letter J actually appears in only one state name: New Jersey. Fun fact for all the Jersey residents.
