The former president and first lady met at the library at Yale Law School. “I noticed that he kept looking over at me,” Hillary said. “I said ‘If you’re going to keep looking at me, and I’m going to keep looking back, we might as well be introduced. I’m Hillary Rodham,” she said. They were married in Arkansas on October 11, 1975, and have one daughter together, Chelsea.

Elizabeth Taylor married her sixth husband John Warner on December 4, 1976. Warner was a Republican politician from Virginia and Taylor helped him during his campaign. The two eventually divorced in November 1982.

Meryl Streep’s marriage to Don Gummer has withstood the test of time, lasting just as long as her own career. The couple married in September 1978 after Streep’s former partner, John Cazales died from bone cancer. Streep and Gummer have been married for almost four decades and have four children together.

Eric Clapton married his best friend George Harrison’s ex-wife, Pattie Boyd. Clapton and Boyd tied the knot on March 27, 1979, although the marriage didn’t last. Clapton’s infidelity caused them to divorce on 1988.

Actor Mel Gibson met Robyn Moore when Moore was a dental nurse in the 1970s. They were married on June 7, 1980, in a Catholic ceremony in Australia.
