'M*A*S*H': Where Are They Now?

The iconic Korean War comedy M*A*S*H premiered September 17, 1972 (to 1983) When the story of the 4077, a mismatched crew of doctors and staff working in a makeshift mobile Army surgical hospital in South Korea, concluded February 28, 1983, the finale to the long-running series became the most watched and highest-rated single television episode in TV history. 45 years after its premiere, let's see what the M*A*S*H stars are up to now. Loretta Swit - Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan Swit inherited the role of head nurse of the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan from Sally Kellerman, who held the part in the M*A*S*H movie. After the show ended, she continued acting in small roles on shows like The Love Boat and Murder, She Wrote. In recent years, Swit took a step back from the spotlight, to design jewelry and raise money for animal rights charities. in 2013, she returned to acting in a one-woman touring stage production of Eleanor: Her Secret Journey as Eleanor Roosevelt. Alan Alda - Dr. Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce After playing the beloved Dr. Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce, Alda has gone on to have a successful acting career in TV and film, landing roles on ER, The West Wing, 30 Rock, and The Big C, as well as movies like The Aviator and Wanderlust. More recently he starred as Dr. Atticus Sherman on The Big C and as Alan Fitch on The Blacklist. Jamie Farr - Sergeant Maxwell Q. Klinger The actor behind the cross-dressing Sergeant Maxwell Q. Klinger has gone on to take small roles on shows like The Love Boat and Mad About You, but now focuses his energy on theater productions and has served on the advisory board of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. William Christopher - Father Francis Mulcahy After bringing Father Francis Mulcahy to life for M*A*S*H's 11 seasons, Christopher joined many of her former co-stars with stints on The Love Boat and Murder She Wrote. Most recently, he returned to a churchly role in 2012 as Father Tobias on Days of Our Lives. Harry Morgan - Colonel Sherman T. Potter The star who played Colonel Sherman T. Potter died at age 96 in 2011, but before his death, he had a prolific career packed with an Emmy win, TV appearances (The Love Boat, 3rd Rock From the Sun, and The Twilight Zone, to name a few), and stage roles. McLean Stevenson - Lt. Colonel Henry Blake McLean Stevenson's Lt. Col. Henry Blake had one of TV's most heartbreaking deaths. The beloved "M*A*S*H" character was shot down while heading home from Korea, leaving the audience watching at home, shocked. After leaving the series, Stevenson had some unsuccessful shows, including "The McLean Stevenson Show" and "Hello, Larry." He also made appearances on "The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson" and "Match Game/Hollywood Squares" hour and was also recognized for his role as Michael Nicholson on The Doris Day Show. The actor died in 1996 at age 68 while he was recovering from bladder cancer surgery he suffered a fatal heart attack and died. Wayne Rogers - Captain "Trapper" John McIntyre For the first three of the show's 11 seasons, Wayne Rogers portrayed the fun-loving Captain "Trapper" John McIntyre, the best bud of Alan Alda's, Hawkeye. After leaving the series, Rogers moved on to shows like "City Of Angles," "House Calls" and "Murder, She Wrote." His last active credit was in 2004, and in the years following, he could be found talking business on Fox News as chairman of the investment strategy firm Wayne M. Rogers & Co. He died on December 31, 3015 of complications from pneumonia in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 82. Mike Farrell - Captain B.J. Hunnicut After Wayne Rogers' Trapper John was discharged. Farrell followed up his turn as Captain B.J. Hunnicut. Farrell;s also known as Dr. James Hansen from the aughts drama "Providence". He also had an array of TV parts on Superman, Desperate Housewives, Law & Order: SVU, and more. Most recently he portrayed David Rogers on the TV series The Red Road. Kellye Nakahara - Lieutenant Kellye Yamato Like many of her co-stars, the actress behind Lieutenant Kellye Yamato went on to a host of other minor TV roles. She also landed a role in 1998's Dr. Doolittle. Today, she mostly works on her watercolor art under her married name, Kellye Wallett. Gary Burghoff - Radar The only actor from the M*A*S*H movie to come to the show as a regular character, Burghoff played the animal-loving Radar.
