10 Things That Still Bother Me About “The Parent Trap”

6. Why didn’t Elizabeth call Nick before she flew all the way out to Napa to reunite the kids? Didn’t she assume there might be a few scheduling conflicts?

Parents are clearly very busy people seeing as they don’t recognize their children and have nannies/butlers helping them and living with them because they are such busy humans. Could mom not have, you know, called Nick to say something like, “Hey, our kids were switched! C u soon?” What about a quick email? Nothing? Why did it have to be a surprise that you showed up halfway around the world to switch your children back together?

7. Why do I keep watching this movie, and why do I know the secret handshake by heart?

Honestly, there is no reason I, a 21-year-old “adult” person, should be watching this movie but I will be damned if I don’t love a good Twin Trouble Story.

8. And how did the parents not recognize their own children?

9. What is this camp that attracted both Annie and Hallie?

I sort of get Hallie. She runs around and rides horses and plays all the time. But Annie? A fancy British girl traveling internationally to go camping? Clearly, she doesn’t really care about this whole outdoorsy life since she came to the camp in a limo with her butler wearing a pinstripe business skirt and jacket and HEELS. So why is she there in the first place?

10. If they hated each other so much, why were they brought together by closing a window?

These girls are firecrackers. Puberty, am I right?!* (*I am not. This is just insane behavior.) Falling into a bucket was grounds to launch the Camp of Hell and then helping each other close a window that was tough to close because of the wind was grounds to figure out they’re twins and then create a “foolproof” plan to trick their parents back together. Because now they love each other. Also what’s up with isolating two pre teens in a cabin in the woods? They’re getting a better deal than anyone else.
