Glen Campbell’s Wife Recalls His Final Moments With Beautiful Letter

“The bus is quiet today. There is no singing, no laughter, no Glen,” she wrote. “There will be no joy or excitement as we approach the Campbell family cemetery, where we will lay my husband of 34 years, the father of my three children, and my very best friend, to rest.”

She continues by writing his battle with Alzheimer’s took a heavy toll on her as she had been grieving and saying goodbye to Glen every day for the last six years.

“Although I knew it was inescapable and certain, nothing could have prepared me for the profound loss I felt as I said goodbye for the final time yesterday,” she wrote. “I had been praying that I would be able to hold his hand when he entered eternity, and my request was granted. While surrounded by family, I watched him take his last breath.”

Kim concluded her letter by writing she was proud of his triumph over alcoholism and his acceptance of God in 1981, stating she found “immense comfort” in knowing his spirit was free and present with the Lord.

“I have no doubt that when he met his maker yesterday at 10 a.m., he was greeted with, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant,’” she wrote.

Earlier this week, Ashley Campbell, daughter of Kim and Glen, wrote her father a touching letter exclusively shared with Rolling Stone, with words honoring her father’s memory.

Campbell, who died last Tuesday at the age of 81, battled Alzheimer’s disease for six years and shared his fight with the fans. But as his memory began depleting, he stayed away from the limelight and spent much of his time with family.
