The Child Stars We Grew Up With: Then And Now

We all watched these kids grow up through our televisions. See the Hollywood child stars we adored as kids, look all grown up. 1. Alyssa Milano Alyssa Milano is known for portraying Samantha Micelli on the ABC sitcom series Who's the Boss? (1984-92), Jennifer Mancini on the Fox soap opera Melrose Place (1997-98), and Phoebe Halliwell on The WB series Charmed (1998-2006). Since 2013, she has played Savannah Davis in the ABC drama Mistresses. Milano, 41, is married to CAA agent David Bugliari. They have two children: son Milo Thomas and daughter Elizabella Dylan. 2. Neil Patrick Harris Neil Patrick Harris won the lead role in Doogie Howser, M.D. in1989, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe. He recently played Barney Stinson in the television comedy series How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014), for which he was nominated for four Emmy Awards. Harris, 41, was named as one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in 2010 and was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in September 2011. He has also hosted the Tony Awards on Broadway in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013, for which he won several special class Emmy Awards. In 2014, he starred in the title role of Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway, for which he won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. 3. Maureen McCormick Maureen McCormick is most widely known for portraying Marcia Brady on the ABC television series The Brady Bunch from 1969 to 1974. On October 14, 2008, McCormick, 58, released her autobiography Here's the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice, which debuted at number four on The New York Times Best Seller List and stayed on the list for three weeks. 4. Kirk Cameron Kirk Cameron, best known for his role as Mike Seaver on the television situation comedy "Growing Pains" (1985-92), performed in other television and film appearances as a child actor. 5. Jodie Foster Jodie Foster began acting in commercials at the age of three, and her first significant role came in 1976 as a child prostitute in Taxi Driver (left), for which she received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1989, for playing a rape victim in The Accused. In 1991, she starred in The Silence of the Lambs as Clarice Starling, a gifted FBI trainee, assisting in a hunt for a serial killer. This performance received international acclaim and her second Academy Award for Best Actress. She received her third Best Actress Academy Award nomination for playing a backwoods hermit in Nell (1994). Her other best-known work includes Contact (1997), Panic Room (2002), Flightplan (2005), Inside Man (2006) and The Brave One (2007). Foster made her directorial debut in 1991 with Little Man Tate; she also directed the films Home for the Holidays (1995) and The Beaver (2011). In addition to her two Academy Awards, she has won three BAFTA Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, the Cecil B DeMille Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. 6. Leonardo DiCaprio Before Leonardo DiCaprio became one of Hollywood's biggest stars, he was a recurring cast member on the ABC sitcom Growing Pains, playing Luke Brower, a homeless boy who is taken in by the Seaver family. 7. Jaleel White Jaleel White was cast in the role of Steve Urkel on the sitcom Family Matters in 1989. The character, which was originally intended to be a one-time guest appearance, was an instant hit with audiences and White became a regular cast member. The series aired for a total of nine seasons, from 1989 to 1997 on ABC, and from 1997 to 1998 on CBS. After Family Matters ended, White starred in the UPN series Grown Ups from 1999 to 2000. He later attended UCLA where he graduated with a degree in film and television in 2001. He has continued his acting career with roles in Dreamgirls (2006), and guest stints on Boston Legal, House, and Psych. In March 2012, White appeared as a contestant on season 14 of Dancing with the Stars and was voted off in May 2012. Jerry O'Connell Jerry O'Connell is best known for his roles as Vern Tessio in the film Stand by Me (left), Quinn Mallory in the TV series Sliders, Derek in Scream 2, Charlie Carbone in Kangaroo Jack, and Detective Woody Hoyt on the drama Crossing Jordan. On July 14, 2007, O'Connell married actress and former model Rebecca Romijn. 9. Jonathan Lipnicki Jonathan Lipnicki made his movie debut in 1996's Jerry Maguire as the son of Rene Zellweger's character. In 1999, he starred in the film Stuart Little, playing a boy whose family adopts a talking mouse, a role he reprised in the film's 2002 sequel. Lipnicki also played the lead role in the 2000 film, The Little Vampire and starred opposite Bow Wow in the 2002 theatrical film Like Mike, which was released two weeks before Stuart Little 2; both of the films did relatively well in theaters, and Lipnicki, 23, has become known among pre-teen audiences, although he has not appeared in a widely released film since, focusing mostly on independent films. 10. Soleil Moon Frye Soleil Moon Frye began her career as a child actor at the age of 2. When she was 7 years old, Frye won the role of Penelope "Punky" Brewster in the sitcom Punky Brewster. After the series ended in 1988, Frye continued her career in guest spots on television and supporting roles in films. She attended The New School during the late 1990s, and directed her first film, Wild Horses, in 1998. In 2000, she joined the cast of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch as Roxie King, Sabrina Spellman's (Melissa Joan Hart) roommate, and close friend. Frye remained with the series until its end in April 2003. She has since continued her acting career working mainly as a voice actor. Frye also voiced Aseefa in the animated series Planet Sheen. In 1998, Frye married producer Jason Goldberg, with whom she has three children. She has since opened an organic specialty clothing shop for children, The Little Seed, in Los Angeles. She also hosts a blog and web series which focus on child rearing and women's issues. In 2011, Frye released her first book Happy Chaos: From Punky to Parenting and My Perfectly Imperfect Adventures in Between. Frye, 38, is currently the host of Home Made Simple on the Oprah Winfrey Network. 11. Danica McKellar Danica McKellar played Winnie Cooper on the television show The Wonder Years, and later wrote four non-fiction books: Math Doesn't Suck, Kiss My Math, Hot X: Algebra Exposed and Girls Get Curves: Geometry Takes Shape, which encourages middle-school and high school girls to have confidence and succeed in mathematics. McKellar, 39 divorced from her husband in 2013. 12. Todd Bridges Todd Bridges is best known for his childhood role as 'Willis' Jackson on the NBC/ABC sitcom Diff'rent Strokes, and for his recurring role as Monk on the UPN/CW sitcom, Everybody Hates Chris. He was a comedic commentator from 2008-2013 on the television series TruTV Presents: World's Dumbest... which airs on truTV. 13. Kristen Stewart Kristen Stewart starred in the film Panic Room (2002) left, Speak (2004), Zathura (2005), The Messengers (2007), Adventureland (2009), The Runaways (2010), Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), On the Road (2012), Camp X-Ray (2014) and Clouds of Sils Maria (2014). Stewart, 24, is best known for playing Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga film series and for her work in independent films. She will star in an adaptation of the book Still Alice and Equals, with both movies projected for release in 2015. She is also the face of Chanel and Balenciaga fashion brands. 14. Jerry Mathers Jerry Mathers is best known for his role in the television sitcom series Leave It to Beaver (1957-1963), in which he played Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver. Mathers, 66, was diagnosed with diabetes in 1996. On the advice of his doctor, Mathers enrolled in a weight loss program with Jenny Craig in May 1997 and lost over 40 pounds. Miley Cyrus Miley Cyrus rose to prominence as a teen idol after being cast in the Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana, in which she portrayed the starring character, Miley Stewart. Cyrus, 21, has had five non-consecutive number-one albums on the U.S. Billboard 200, two of which are soundtracks credited to her titular character Hannah Montana, and has earned numerous awards and nominations. In 2010, Cyrus ranked number thirteen on Forbes' Celebrity 100, and was named the "Most Charted Teenager" in the 2011 Guinness World Records with twenty-nine Billboard Hot 100 entries as of November 2009. In 2013, she was declared "Artist of the Year" by MTV. 16. Haley Joel Osment Haley Joel Osment played a series of roles in television and film during the 1990s, including a small part in Forrest Gump playing the title character's son, Osment rose to fame with his performance as Cole Sear in M. Night Shyamalan's thriller film The Sixth Sense, which earned him a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He subsequently appeared in leading roles in several high-profile Hollywood films, including Steven Spielberg's A.I. Artificial Intelligence and Mimi Leder's Pay It Forward. In 2013, Osment, 26, appeared in a series of episodes of Amazon's Alpha House. He also co-starred in the Will Ferrell and Adam McKay-produced comedy melodrama miniseries The Spoils of Babylon for IFC. 17. Abigail Breslin Abigail Breslin was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Little Miss Sunshine in 2006. Now 18 years of age, she most recently starred in August: Osage County (2013); The Call (2013); and Ender's Game (2013). 18. Dustin Diamond Dustin Diamond an American actor, musician, director, and stand-up comedian is best known for his role as Samuel "Screech" Powers in the television shows Saved by the Bell. On an October 2012 interview, Diamond, 37, confirmed that he had been married since 2009. He currently resides in Port Washington, Wisconsin. 19. Lindsay Lohan Lindsay Lohan began her career as a child fashion model when she was three and was later featured on the soap opera Another World for a year when she was 10. At age 11, Lohan made her motion picture debut in Disney's remake of The Parent Trap (1998), a critical and commercial hit. Her next motion picture, Disney's remake of Freaky Friday (2003), was also a success at the box office and with critics. With the release of Mean Girls (2004), another critical and commercial success, Lohan became a household name and a frequent focus of paparazzi and tabloids. The two films earned her several MTV Movie Awards and Teen Choice Awards. In March 2013, Lohan, 28, pled no contest to misdemeanor charges stemming from the June 2012 car accident; reckless driving and providing false information to a police officer. She was sentenced to community service, psychotherapy and lockdown rehabilitation. Her probation was also extended for another two years. Between May and July 2013 Lohan spent 90 days in rehabilitation, after which she was ordered to remain in therapy until November 2014, when her next court appearance was scheduled. 20. Ben Savage Ben Savage is best known for his role as Cory Matthews on the ABC sitcom Boy Meets World (1993-2000) and its Disney Channel sequel series Girl Meets World (2014). 21. Angus T. Jones Angus T. Jones is best known for playing Jake Harper in the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men, for which he had won two Young Artist and a TV Land Award during his 10-year tenure as one of the show's main characters. In November 2012, Jones made statements critical of Two and a Half Men. He said he was a "paid hypocrite" because his religious beliefs conflicted with his job as an actor in expressing the show's adult themes. In October 2012, Jones, 20, described his path to a new faith in detail during an interview with Seventh-day Adventist-sponsored Voice of Prophecy radio program. In November, his views gained the attention of the media after Jones appeared in a video posted on the YouTube channel of ForeRunner Chronicles, an independent ministry run by Christopher Hudson.
