10 Images That Bring The 70s And 80s Back To Life

You didn’t have the Internet back then. There weren’t any gadgets, video games, appliances and so many other things that have now become everyday necessities for kids and adults alike. It is perhaps because of these reasons that your childhood was way different than other kids who grew up in the 90s or the 21st century. It was wonderful and full of excitement. Everything on this list is either irreplaceable or gone forever... BUT NOT FORGOTTEN! 1. Three’s Company A Very funny sitcom, which aired for 8 seasons on ABC, followed three roommates and their landlord. Every episode was based on constant misunderstandings and financial mishaps. It still remains popular with the re-runs and DVD releases. We watched it every week – I think it was on a Friday evening – and it was one of those programs that all the family laughed at. Click NEXT to see what's in store 2. School Benches On the first inspection, you’d think there was nothing to mention about a school bench but lurking at the bottom of it, an instant memory pops up. Remember when the bench was upturned during PE and we had to walk across it. It was a pointless exercise, in my opinion, but, then again, so was PE full stop. What would you like to see NEXT? 3. Mouse Trap Game Well, the old ones are the best and I’m not referring to jokes. I’m talking about board games. We all played Monopoly, and still do, and we were all involved in Mousetrap, which is still around, thankfully. Just before we broke up from school for the summer, we were allowed to bring in a game and you were sure to be popular if you brought this beauty out! Remember this NEXT memory? 4. Clock Radio Wow, technology was at it’s very best. Dad bought mom the Panasonic clock radio and it took pride of place on her bedside table. I was very naive as mom always had the radio tuned to the same channel and I thought there was only one on it! Mom had it for over 20 years – she never wanted it replaced as it worked perfectly. Love this NEXT memory 5. Jonny Quest Jonny’s father was a scientist and he accompanied him on some mad adventures. This was such a cool series and if you missed it when you were young, you could watch a re-run for the next 20 years or so! There were a couple of Jonny Quest films made for TV in the late 80s and also a comic book series. Did you play this NEXT game? 6. Trapper Keeper Launched in the late 70s, just about every pupil in the Stares had a Trapper Keeper. If you didn’t, you were definitely an outcast! They were always brightly colored and often had themes. I remember they even featured them on Dawson’s Creek and Full House. I got a new one at the start of every school year and you had to buy them early or you couldn’t get the design you wanted. I remember this NEXT dance. Do you? 7. The Bump One of the unusual dance moves from the 70s. I suppose it wasn’t that odd, bearing in mind we also sat on the disco floor, in a long line, and rowed the boat to “Oops Upside Your Head” (the Gap Band). If you were partners with a groovy dancer, the bump was executed smoothly but, if one of you didn’t have the right rhythm, it looked like you were just invading someone else’s space. What was your favorite flavor of this NEXT memory? 8. Ice Pop Molds We were easily pleased back then and got quite excited at making ice pops. I would sometimes use Kool-Aid or Hi-C Grape Juice in the molds and once, when my friend and I were making them after school, we used Jello, which tasted great when frozen. Which on of these NEXT toys did you have? 9. Disney Trapeze Characters These take me way back. I used to collect them and kept them on the top of the book shelf in my bedroom. I also had the swingers, group of 4 monkeys, which I was particularly fond of. I ended up selling them all at my dad’s garage sale many years later. I didn’t get much for them and I wish I had kept them now, as a childhood memory. This NEXT memory is one of my favorite childhood memories 10. Pippi Longstocking Pippi Longstocking was an unusual girl in that she was financially independent, with a sack of gold pieces. She could sail the Seven Seas and was stronger than the strongest man in the world, lifting a horse as proof of this! I read all the books and loved the TV show, as well as the movie. She instilled confidence in us young girls and made us feel we could do anything if we put our mind to it – if only this were true!
