Frank Zappa- Shut Up ‘N Play Yer Guitar
Released: (1981) (compilation)
Worth: $50.00
Explanation: All three albums plus a drawing and some liner notes all in an LP-sized box. Great way to get the whole thing!
Tom Petty- Full Moon Fever
Released: (1989)
Worth: $65.00
Explanation: Tom Petty’s debut solo album came off the Traveling Wilbury’s first album and was produced by Jeff Lynne. It was a bit of a return to form after the previous Heartbreakers album, and spawned quite a few hits. It did, however, come out in 1989, when the record companies were doing what they could to phase out vinyl, so now it has become a collector’s item.
David Bowie- Sound + Vision
Release: (1989)
Worth: $5,192.00
Explanation: That’s the price copy went for on eBay in December 2013, anyway. To be fair, at least you’d kind of feel like you were getting your money’s worth here. Only 350 copies of the compilation were made. It contains 49 tracks – a mix of studio and live records – and one video (‘Ashes To Ashes’), while the aforementioned eBay listing says it’s accompanied by a 72-page booklet and comes in “a basswood and birch box”. Bargain!
