Handkerchief Doll
Tea Party Ribbons
Also known as “Hanky Dolls”, this was a very simple concept, however it was great way to make time fly by making new dolls out of handkerchiefs. You just need is something to stuff the head with (that can be anything) and some string (maybe even some butcher’s string!). We even used to use fabric scraps to make these.
Cardboard Boxes
Personally, this was my favorite object to turn into a toy. My little brother and I would step inside the cardboard box that the family’s newest refrigerator came in, and it became an instant rocket ship. These boxes were also turned into forts or cars and were even flattened to make into sleds.
Gardening Hose
Whether it was used for watering flowers, sprinkling our friends, tormenting our siblings, or just drinking water from them, garden hoses were used for various fun summer past times. It was one of the best times when one of your parents let you go outside and turn the hose on… Just remember to wipe your feet off when you go back inside!
Can you think of any other everyday objects we used to turn into toys when we were little? Let us know in the comments section below.
