“A Day in the Life”—The Beatles (1967)
Hard to believe that the BBC could ever ban a song by London’s beloved Beatles, but that’s exactly what happened when this track from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was released. It seems the line, “Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,” was perceived as a drug reference to getting high, which the boys had been known to do on more than a few occasions.
With a group named The Sex Pistols, you would assume they would have a banned song!
