A Wheel of Fortune contestant got a bit ahead of himself with an answer for one of the puzzles on a recent episode. It was on the last group puzzle before the final round, and contestant Alex was in the lead and clearly feeling confident enough to win. The answer to the puzzle was ‘Declaring Victory,’ but he threw his hands up and exclaimed “I’m Declaring Victory.” The problem being that there was no ‘I’m’ in the puzzle, so his answer didn’t really count…
While fans were a little less harsh on him, host Pat Sajak needed to be fair and let Alex know that it was not the correct answer. The next contestant came in and guessed the answer before even guessing a letter. Of course, this entire scene caused a stir online and people have been talking a lot about it.

“I almost never watch Wheel of Fortune anymore but, as luck would have it, I just witnessed a gem. Glorious,” one fan writes on Twitter. Another says, “Guy on wheel of fortune tried to solve the puzzle…he said “I’m declaring victory” it was “declaring victory”…the next player solved it and won all the money. He was stunned.” I think we’re all stunned!

Some fans actually criticized Sajak for not allowing the answer. “@WheelofFortune you totally crapped that guy out of the money for not allowing him to win when he said, “I’m declaring victory.” That is a bad look for you. We are very disappointed in your show,” someone writes, tagging the official Wheel of Fortune Twitter account.

Despite this misunderstanding, it actually ended up working out in Alex’s favor since he ended up coming in first place. He was just unable to solve the final puzzle.
I’m declaring victory would have been so much funnier if he lost #WheelOfFortune
