Guess What this Crazy Invention Was Used for?

It’s a Dimple Machine!

Dimples used to be one of the most desirable facial features ever. So if you weren’t blessed with ’em you had two options: Mope about it or create an invention that would make dimples for you.

According to advertisements from the era, this bizarre invention by New Yorker Isabella Gilbert consisted of a face-fitting spring that pressed two small knobs into the cheeks, intended to create a “fine set of dimples.”
