Paulina Porizkova Says She Is Still Devastated After Ex Ric Ocasek’s Death

Model Paulina Porizkova’s husband Ric Ocasek died last year. He was the frontman of the band the Cars. The two were married in 1989 but announced their separation in 2018. They had already been separated for about a year at that point. However, when Ric got sick they still lived in the same house together and Paulina took care of him in his final days. He died of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

About a year after his death, Paulina has sold their once shared home. She opened up about the process and how she’s still grieving in an emotional Instagram post. She also realized that she needed to take a break from social media for a while to continue the healing process.

Paulina shared a photo of herself in a near-empty apartment. She wrote, “Last two days in my house. It’s empty, cold and dirty. I’ve never cried as much as I have in the last year. I was never a crier. In fact, the opposite. I took a lot of care NEVER to be seen crying. This year has shown me I had tears to spare. Thank you, all of you, my new insta friends out there in the Instagram ether for your continuous support and love.”

She continued, “At the moment, I’m having a bit of a crash. I’ll take a little time off from gramming – a week? – because I’m at the moment a permanent little gray cloud, and if I’m sick of hearing myself whine, I bet you are too. So many people out there with problems larger than mine. But it doesn’t make mine hurt less, you know? So, I’ll take a moment of not posting now so I can share a little positivity with you all later, and in the meantime, please stay well, wear a mask to protect one another, love you all. ❤️”

Many fans and celebrity friends commented some sweet messages for Paulina. Many reminded her that it is okay to cry and she should absolutely take some time for herself. Some recommended self-care such as massages and outdoor hikes.

For example, actress Andie MacDowell wrote, “You were so young and free and full of spirit. You still are that person nobody can take that from you! Try to rest think when we get to the state where we’re crying we need rest. Get massages do yoga take hikes and remember to breathe. Life is a journey this is just a door.”

Sending our continued condolences to Paulina and those who were close to Ric!
