McDonald’s has some exciting news! They are adding spicy chicken nuggets to the menu on September 16, 2020. The McNuggets will come with Mighty Hot Sauce, made with crushed red peppers and spicy chilis. This is the first new chicken nugget flavor since 1983 in the United States. It appears McDonald’s is aiming to compete with other fast food chains including Popeyes and Wendy’s.
In addition, they are debuting a new McFlurry flavor to offset the spicy nuggets. On the same day, The Chips Ahoy!® McFlurry® will be available as well. The ice cream treat is made with vanilla ice cream, caramel topping, and Chips Ahoy!® cookie pieces.
McDonald’s released a press release on the new menu additions. Vice President of Menu Innovation, Linda VanGosen said, “This is the first time we’ve introduced a new flavor of our classic Chicken McNuggets in the U.S. since they came to menus in 1983.”

She continued, “As our customers have been asking for Spicy McNuggets for some time now, we couldn’t think of a better time to bring them to our menus. We can’t wait for McNuggets fans to get a taste of these new spicy options.”
McDonald’s said that the new menu items are available for a limited time. However, if they are received well, they likely will become permanent menu items. Are you excited about McDonald’s new menu offerings?
