sofia vergara addresses ellen show controversy

Sofía Vergara has spoken out amid the Ellen Degeneres controversy. She insists that she was “never the victim” when on her show. She’s speaking out following an old clip of Ellen making fun of Vergara’s accent. In the clip, Ellen is poking fun at Vergara’s pronunciation of certain ingredients in a cosmetics commercial.

Vergara describes the situation as “two comedians having fun with each other to entertain.” She adds, “I was never a victim guys, I was always in on the joke.” The video dates back to 2015 and people have been slamming Ellen for her mean behavior since the beginning of this year.

“I don’t know why they give her the hardest lines, too – because we have to describe what’s in the CoverGirl make-up, and she has such a hard time pronouncing any of the ingredients,” Ellen says of her guest, Vergara. She then responds, “I think because you are much more famous than me… and older than me… so they give you priority and you read the script first and you’re the one that makes me say those words.”

Despite Vergara’s statement, some still feel that Ellen was in the wrong here. “You are strong and confident enough to not be a victim, however I think laughing and mocking other people’s accents without even speaking a second language is quite ignorant, and not necessarily hilarious for our Latino community,” one person writes.

Since allegations about Ellen’s toxic work environment on her talk show, she has since apologized. She says that she is “disappointed” and “sorry” about the alleged staff misconduct.
